Abstract

Incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnosed in individuals under age 50, or young-onset colorectal cancer (YCRC), is rising. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and hematochezia are potential red-flag symptoms of YCRC, however there is minimal data on the magnitude of risk associated with these symptoms, and therefore mixed guidance on appropriate evaluation of these symptoms in patients under age 50.
