Target Audience

This enduring activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, urogynecologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses involved in the care of patients with fecal incontinence.

Goal Statement

This program will focus on the diagnosis and management of fecal incontinence, with the goal of improving recognition, identification of underlying factors, and treatment.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Describe the epidemiology and burden of illness, pathophysiology, and diagnostic evaluation of fecal incontinence (FI)

Describe the current and future management of FI

Discuss the pros and cons of medical vs surgical approaches for the management of patients with FI

Formulate an appropriate treatment plan for fecal incontinence, taking in to account clinical presentation and patient preference

Credit Designation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and Gi Health Foundation.
