BREAKING THE BARRIERS: Improving Access to Biologic Therapies in IBD

In September 2017, the GiHF partnered with the Chronic Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) to launch the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider (GHAPP) Community Educator Network including more than 90 NPs and PAs from leading academic centers in gastroenterology and hepatology. The GHAPP Community Educator network is a NP/PA-led working group dedicated to educating allied health care professionals on emerging developments in the management of GI disorders and chronic liver disease. The GHAPP Community Educators will champion the delivery of the GiHF's 'Breaking the Barriers: Improving Access to Biologic Therapies in IBD' educational initiative to NPs and PAs.

The program will feature an in-clinic small group meeting targeting the practice NPs, PAs, nurses, medical assistants and allied health care professionals. It will focus on minimizing access barriers to biologic therapy in IBD with specific emphasis on the prior authorization process for biologics.
