Goal Statement

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners involved in the diagnosis and management of IBS.

Target Audience

The live meeting series will target gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Differentiate IBS amongst other functional bowel disorders

Discuss diagnostic recommendations and describe how and when to initiate therapy

Examine new and emerging therapies for IBS

Discuss the role of nonpharmacologic treatment options

Analyze treatment guidelines and illustrate the implementation of these recommendations in clinical practice with emphasis on tailoring therapy to the individual patient
